One of the keys to HUB IT's success is having the skills in-house to take a plan-driven (waterfall) or feedback-driven (agile) approach to projects. Each approach has its advantages and disadvantages and we can recommend the right one for you.
The waterfall method is an engineering practice that involves rigorous design and planning up front. Consider the construction of a bridge. The requirements are well understood upfront and the contractor produces plans and estimates to ensure the outcome. However, the decision to add a lane cannot be made in the middle of the project.
Many workshops, designs and plans are carried out upfront. Risks are identified and addressed at an early stage. Planning and results can be estimated and costs and timelines are determined (some risks are borne by HUB IT). Inflexible, as significant investment in design and planning is required. Works best when the requirements are known in advance and the ROI must be planned as part of the feasibility of the project. Not ideal when iterations are unknown (market driven features, hidden complexity, R&D).

We carry out preliminary work on a fee-based consultancy

basis. We take your advice and provide you with a quote

for a further project.

Once approved, the idea is incorporated into a detailed

design and project plan and risks are identified to

achieve ROI. Occasionally, a proof of concept or a test

interface with an external system may be required.


Before coding can begin, the design is agreed, risks are

assigned and a project plan is drafted.


STEP 3

Build

We carry out initial testing on the agreed design,

test it in your organisation and make adjustments.

We also organise a separate team for testing to

ensure quality.


The waterfall model ensures that we have what we need

to build the software, and we will regularly report back

to you on its status and ask you questions. We will contact you

again when it is complete.


STEP 4

Accept

Customers can check their software against the

software we are asked to build to ensure it is

fit for purpose.


Your system is on a test server and can be tested

against all possible scenarios for your business.


STEP 5

Deploy

The system is migrated to a professional-grade

hosted environment according to the customer's

specifications. In some cases, the system can be

deployed on the customer's in-house servers.
